Why natural
Warmth in a room full of hard surfaces.
Newer houses are full of flat painted drywall, engineered floors and quartz. They are easy to keep and they can be relentless. A woven wood shade puts an irregular natural texture into that, and it does more for how a room feels than the price suggests.
Because the material is a natural fibre, expect variation between blinds and slight variation from the sample — that is the point of it rather than a defect. If you need three windows in one room to match exactly, tell us and we will order them from one run.
Worth knowing
Light comes through the weave.
This is the one thing that surprises people after installation.
- Privacy linerUnlined, a woven shade lets light and some visibility through the gaps in the weave — lovely in a living room, wrong in a bedroom. A liner sewn to the back solves it completely and is the single most common addition we recommend on this product.
- Room darkeningA blackout liner is available. It will never be as dark as a blackout roller in channels, but it is enough for most bedrooms and keeps the texture on the room side.
- Edge finishLeft raw, the woven edge is casual and coastal. A fabric banding along the edges makes it read tailored and considered. It is a small cost and a surprisingly large difference.

Do natural shades give privacy on their own?
Not fully. Light and shapes come through the weave, which is exactly what makes them beautiful in daylight and unsuitable for a bedroom without a liner. We will always ask what the room is before quoting one unlined.
Will the colour fade?
Natural fibres do mellow in strong sun over years — bamboo and grasses lighten slightly. Most people like the result. On a fierce south or west elevation we would talk to you about a liner, which shields the material as well as adding privacy.
How do I clean them?
Dust with a vacuum brush attachment. Do not wet them. They are more robust than they look but they are still plant fibre, and water marks the material permanently.
